BREAK AND FALL

Sunset Number 7 - Break and Fall by Mutech Records

In an ocean polluted with disposable singles and manufactured artists, Chris Warner is a refreshing singer-songwriter who with his punk rock ethics, writes and performs songs straight from the heart and soul.
Currently working in two projects; his self titled Chris Warner which showcases his acoustic music and Sunset Number 7, which showcases his alternative rock stylings, Chris is a talented multi-genre songwriter who believes there are only two types of music; good and bad. Like many people of his generation, his musical roots and influences lay in the 90s Seattle Grunge scene in bands such as Pearl Jam, Soundgarden and Nirvana, though artists Ben Harper, G. Love and Jack Johnson he has found equally important.
Growing up in Leicester in the heart of England, Chris received his first cassette walkman at aged 3, started playing guitar at 10, and performed his first ever gig at just age 13. Though it was a set of only four cover songs, he knew his life had forever changed and he has been playing and performing in bands ever since.
In 2005, Chris took his first steps into the Singer-songwriter world and for the next two years, with his band The Sunshine Blues, he recorded 3 EPs which went on to sell over 1000 copies and receive rave reviews. Future Music magazine called one song “a great, catchy tune, this could do a storm in today’s climate” and record label Matchbox Recordings even went as far as releasing the song in 2006. In the two years The Sunshine Blues were together, from London’s Hope & Anchor to Liverpool’s Cavern Club, they played over 200 shows up and down the country, Chris forever increasing his reputation as an engaging and passionate live performer.
2008 saw Chris record and release his first chart eligible single Eternal Sunshine. On the strength of the songs success, Chris was invited to perform at Leicester’s Big Session and Summer Sundae festivals alongside Supergrass, Macy Gray, Steve Earl and Jose Gonzalez, not to mention numerous appearances on BBC radio and a show at London’s Water Rats Theatre. With momentum building, in the summer of 2009 Chris was approached by film director Andy Haworth to write the soundtrack to his upcoming surf film, Devon Lanes & Longboards. Featuring some of the best longboard surfers the UK has to offer; Chris set to work and recorded the ten track album in just 3 eight hour sessions, with all parts being down in just one or two takes. Whilst it gave the opportunity for some of Chris’ older “new” songs to have a home, half of the 10 track album was written two weeks prior to the recording date, with Light the Fire being written the night before. Chris also found the freedom to experiment in a way he’d never done previously; writing instrumentals and playing and recording each instrument himself.
In 2010, Chris took a step back from the music scene to pursue other aspirations, including an around the world trip of South East Asia and Australasia. Now back on home soil, 2011 promises to be a great year for Chris as he sets about finishing what he started by releasing his first LP album Devon Lanes & Longboards: The Soundtrack. Released on Monday 2nd May 2011, Devon Lanes & Longboards shall be available from all major digital download stores and for physical CD purchase from Chris’ website.
